I haven't used anything for my children since I am worried about the pesticides too. They already have skin sensitivites (especially my fair skinned children).

I will have to give this a try. It's that or using Benadryl for the insect bites.

I've used some other Burt's Bees products but wasn't aware of this one. I'll have to look for some when we move back to the states! Thanks. :)

your article is wonderful and is alot what i hope to be talking about in the future. i've been in the pest control business for 20 years and i urge the use of i.p.m. control [intergrated pest management. we all need to tolerate to a certain degree of insects. the idea is control and we must utilize means that are the safest starting with things like exclusion from property such as sealing holes ,fixing screens, trimming trees. using snap traps instead of poisons. insect monitors that use a pheramone attractant instead of pesticides etc, etc,. i'll be writing more soon on the best ways to handle a pest problem. what questions to ask when hiring an exterminator because there are a few bad ones.

Thanks for adding the extra, very helpful information in the comments.

If I haven't already overstepped with my suggestions, I think the link would be even more useful in the review itself.

HR for trying to please a pain in the behind.

A few things. (Reply to this comment)
by drmomentum
Thanks for sharing your opinion on this product. I just have a few quick comments.

1) To get technical (sorry) DEET is not an insecticide. It doesn't kill insects.

2) What are the ingredients in this product? How do we know they are less toxic than DEET?

3) Have you found it to be more, less, or the same level of effect compared to DEET-containing products.

I am unhappy about what I have learned of DEET's possible neurotoxicity. However, I've never seen any product come close to its effectiveness. For a while I used a 100% DEET product in the woods of Vermont and the efficacy of that product was amazing.

Cheers, and thanks again.

What about ticks? (Reply to this comment)
by jgibson2
Mosquitoes are mostly a nuisance. If this doesn't repel ticks, it won't do me much good.
