| cmaw63's Full Review: Bushnell Banner 3 9x40 Mobu |
I bought this Bushnell Banner Dusk & Dawn Scope for my husband for Christmas. He had been talking about buying a scope for his Henry 22 Magnum, lever action rifle, but hadn't gotten around to doing it yet.
After speaking to the owner of a local gun & sporting goods store about what I needed, he presented the Bushnell Banner Dusk & Dawn Scope. He stated, in his opinion, it was the best "out there" for what my husband needed. Ok, he was trying to make a sell, but, he had a great return policy, so I bought the scope for $89.99+tax.
Am I returning it? Nope, no way, not going to happen. My husband has another scope, a different brand for a different gun. We believe the Bushnell Banner Dusk & Dawn Scope is better. With the 3-9X40mm optics, we can zoom in on the target at 200 yards and make it look like it's right there in front of us. He says it can reach out further, but 200 yards is the furthest we have tested it.
Vision clarity is top-notch and it has a wide angle field of view. There is no distortion of the target, even around the edges. The fast focus eyepiece is easy to use and can be quickly adjusted to your vision, by rotating right or left, the ring found about 2 inches from the eyepiece. The overall length of the scope is 12 inches.
Going from inside the warm house to the cold outdoors and then back in, did not result in any fogging. The package states that this scope is waterproof, fogproof and shockproof. We haven't tested it in the rain or dropped it on the ground, but with the single piece tubing and well fitted optics, we trust it to hold up to it's claim.
On the day after Christmas it was not quite dusk when we tried it out. The lighting was great when looking through the scope, due to the internal DDB multicoating. The scope "pulled" in the surrounding light to make the view, through the scope, brighter than the actual outdoor lighting.
There are 1/4 inch fingertip resettable windage & elevation adjustments to vary the scope's settings according to the conditions your shooting under. We shot at 50 yards, 100 yards and 200 yards. Each adjustment to make for a bullseye (or in my case, a near bullseye) shot took less than a few seconds. The knob on the right of the scope is for windage (left to right), the top knob for elevation (up and down).
The Bushnell Banner Dusk & Dawn Scope was mounted to the rifle with 2 mounting rings. The package containing both rings was bought separately for $9.95. The mounting of the scope to the rifle took approximately 10 minutes.
Whether you are hunting before the sun has completely come up, in the bright of day or late afternoon, you are going to see what you're aiming at, clear and bright. Pull your target in close to you with this Bushnell Banner Dusk & Dawn Scope and you'll make the shot you were aiming for. We love this scope and what it does for our aim. The highest praise we can give it? If we ever need another scope we're buying a Bushnell Banner Dusk & Dawn.
