I don't know if CCM is still making these. If they are, they shouldnt be. This is one of the worst helmets that I have ever used. Dont get me wrong, there are some redeeming qualities about this helmet or I never would have picked it up. It is a fairly comfortable mask. It doesnt have that weird shape that some brands have (Itechs 1000 comes to mind). And honestly it is a pretty good helmet from a pure protective aspect.
Basics
The liner in the mask is dual density, which offers a fairly good level of protection and is pretty comfortable. I prefer dual density foam to single density liners or EPP liners. It also has a Kevlar reinforced forehead and chin, so durability of the shell is not a problem.
I suspect that the finish on these is pretty good, but not excellent. I cannot really comment on how long it would last since I repainted the helmet after buying it. However, there was a good amount of sanding to get the old finish off which isnt a bad thing. Unfortunately, I dont know anyone who has one to give you an accurate assessment of the paint durability.
The problems
The first and biggest problem that I noticed with this helmet was the strap system on the back plate is pitiful. It starts out OK, but after half a dozen games the elastic loses all of its elasticity. I ended up replacing it with Itech straps which were much better but hard to get a hold of as they have a number of different styles (most of which dont work on a CCM helmet).
The next problem was the cage. Not only was it at the annoyingly perfect place that I had to look directly through one of the bars, it was coated with a rubberized type of material. I have no idea why they did this, but it didnt take long before the coating was coming off in chunks. There is nothing like having bits of your helmet in your eyes after taking a hard shot.
I only used mine for about six to eight months. When the rubber on the cage went bad I decided it was time for an upgrade. However, the shell and liner were still in good condition at that time.
Bottom Line
This is simply a very poor product. For the amount of money this helmet costs, you should not have to worry about things like the harness and the pitiful finish on the cage.
I wouldn't recomend something as poorly made as this helmet to anyone.
