HoneyBee's Full Review: Caesars Palace II for Game Boy Color
My mom and I couldn't make it to Vegas this year, for our usual Christmas migration (Damn Y2K!), so my boyfriend got me a Game Boy (complete with Ceasars Palace II) to try and ease the pain.
The game is both cute and seriously accurate. The blackjack tables sound like blackjack tables, the roulette wheels sound like roulette wheels! It's like a dream come true, a whole casino to yourself! You even get to upgrade your outfit once you have accumulated some winnings. But don't try to get passed the bouncers, you're not allowed into the high-rolling section until you've attained some serious waddage. Those sunglasses aren't fooling anyone.
The only problem is, I almost find myself wishing there _were_ other players. I think part of the fun of a casino is in the rapport with other players, especially at the blackjack table.
Other than that, the game truly has it all; from several different kinds of video poker, slots, keno, spinning big wheel, to high stakes baccarat. There are even hints available for those virgin gamblers (or those who think it acceptable to split 10's).
As far as longevity goes, this one definitely has managed to hold my attention. Winning $35,000 due to a risky roulette move certainly didn't hurt any! Can't beat that adrenaline (East of the Mississippi, anyway).
