Durable Calphalon is Great for Baking!

Pros: Calphalon Quality and Durability
Cons: None that I have experienced.

I am a huge Calphalon devotee, which you'll see by some of my previous cookware reviews. I am always looking for sales to add to my growing collection of Calphalon. The 9" x 13" baking pan was the first piece of Calphalon bakeware I bought, and now I can't wait to get more.
This cake pan is much more substantial and slightly heavier than any pan of its size that I've used in the past. The edges of the pan are rolled every so slightly outward, making the edges very smooth. Each corner of the pan is extra-solid construction, with corners folded the way you would expect to see on a gift-wrapped package! The body of the pan appears to be made of one piece of solid anodized aluminum. It is a tough piece of bakeware!
This pan is coated with Calphalon's commercial non-stick coating. While I am usually a fan of their hard anodized (uncoated) cookware, this is my third piece of non-stick, and I am enjoying the finish on it. It is incredibly easy to clean with dishsoap and a non-scratch scrubby. If you have some baked-on food, a brief soak in soapy water will make it slide right off easily. . Don't use too abrasive of a cleanser or a metal cooking utensil, as you could damage the surface. And with this cakepan, you really won't need them.
The substantial feel of this pan is a benefit, in my opinion, in baking cakes. My older pan, which was replaced by the Calphalon, was a thinner model and seemed to give me uneven baking. The aluminum construction of the Calphalon is what gives their cookware and bakeware the even heat distribution for which they are known. This even heat is as big a plus in baking as in cooking. I cook more than I bake, but with bakeware like this, I'll be doing more. This quality pan just makes it easier to bake quality cakes.
Calphalon pans have a lifetime warranty on them, conditional upon the pan must have been cared for in the proper manner. I recently had a chance to test their warranty service on one of my older saute pans that had begun to "deanodize" (turn silver) on the inside.I contacted Calphalon via email, and described the problem and how I had cared for the pan. They instructed me to send it back to them and they would replace it. It took about 10 days round trip, but I just received my new pan, delivered by FedEx, in just days. It is slightly restyled, as my old pan was 13 years of age, and Calphalon included a new lid with my replacement so that the pan and lid would match.
I was very impressed with Calphalon's response and follow up and the entire process of their warranty claims. I think this is an excellent example of a company that stands behind their product, and gives me even more conviction in my recommending them so highly.

One thing that is imperative to remember about Calphalon: They must never be put in the dishwasher! To do so not only ruins the pans but it also voids the warranty. But when cared for properly, Calphalon will give you years of great cooking. And when purchased on sale, it's only better!
