speedwil's Full Review: Canon EOS-1V Body Only 35mm Film Camera
I bought the EOS-1V when my previous SLR died from over use. Plus, I needed to step up to a better grade of body and the 1V came highly recommended.
Since much of my shooting involved dirt late models across the SOUTHERN US, my cameras are exposed to powdery grit emanating from the clay tracks. Where I often found visible accumulations of this "powder" in my old SLR's the 1V keeps it on the outside.
Teamed with the Canon 550EX Speedlite I have been able to pull in shots I would not have tried before. The auto focus tracking is the best available with USM lenses and allows me to simply follow the shot, squeeze the frame and move on.
Because in auto racing events that lend themselves to motordriven sequences often last longer than 36 exposures at the 1V's 9 fps, I reduce the rate to what works out to be around 3.5 fps and it does a spectacular job.
Overall, the EOS-1V is complicated to use, but what professional camera isn't? The bracketing capabilities of both the camera and flash make doing studio and technical shots a breeze. Literally, everything comes out tack-sharp and well lit.
