OK here is the deal. While paying my Capital One credit card, I noticed the Auto Finance link, so I went there, filled out the little form in like 3 minutes, and in 15 minutes I had my approval, and at a much lower rate than my current load. Then I went to a dealer, found my car, and with financing in hand was able to hammer away at them until I got the deal I wanted. That simple. And yes, the dealer will try to steer you to one of their financing options, because THEY MAKE MONEY OFF THEM! Don't do it - you may end up with a much higher interest rate! As for the Capital One requirements, they are VERY simple, just copy a few items and fax them to Capital One, DONE. So simple even a Car Salesman can do it!
For all the people complaining, I noticed one thing - NONE OF THEM bothered to read their Check package! If you read it, you will see that you CANNOT go to Out-Of-State dealers. And you will see CLEARLY defined what Capital One wants faxed to them ( copy of completed check, odometer statement, etc) I don't see how it could be any simpler?
I cannot comment on their Customer Service because I only used it once (they needed a clearer copy of my license, no biggie) but in the past their credit card customer service is fine.
