| dlstewart's Full Review: Case Logic Jds 6: Usb Drive Shuttle |
I already owned one memory media wallet, but it wasnt ideally suited for Flash Drives. That is why I purchased this Case Logic USB Drive Shuttle Model # JDS6. There is enough room in it to hold six USB Drives.
Description
This is a compact wallet (or as Case Logic calls it
a Shuttle). When it has USB Drives in it, the Case Logic Shuttle measures 5 1/4 x 3 3/4 x 1 1/4 high. The case is constructed from black neoprene and nylon. The cover also has a wide band of bright red knit material on it with a plastic Case Logic logo attached to it. The front and back of the case have a padded feel to them.
The side of the case zippers open and shut. The zipper is made from black nylon and has a wide black nylon strap attached to it to act as a zipper-pull.
When opened, the case has three compartments on each side. Dividing the compartment areas is a spine made from a leather-like black material. There is a small black plastic triangular piece on this spine with a picture of yellow flames. Im assuming the yellow flames are the logo that goes with the Rip & Burn phrase on the cardboard sleeve housing this case.
Essentially the three compartments on each side of the case are pockets. Each pocket is designed to hold one Flash Drive. The top of the pockets are edged with black elastic, and the pocket is constructed from stretchy black mesh. The pockets are sized so that they cover between a half and two-thirds of the Flash Drive, keeping the USB drive anchored inside the case.
My Experiences
I knew I wanted a case to hold several USB Flash Drives, but wasnt sure where they were located in the Staples store I visited. A helpful employee pointed me to a hanging strip on the inside of an aisle endcap and plucked one of these cases from the assortment hanging there. All the cases were black with the red trim on the cover. He unzipped it and showed me that the case could easily hold six USB drives.
The Case Logic brand is familiar to me, and Ive had good luck with it. If I had one thing to do differently, I would have scrutinized the stitching on the back of the case. There is one stitch that is longer than the others. It is not flat to the case; it is a loop that sits off the case back. I admit that it bugs me
perhaps because I sew and am conscious of these little details. I noticed this manufacturing boo-boo after arriving home, and I wasnt about to make a special trip to the store to exchange the case.
This little case is perfect for storing Flash Drives. I have a collection of the Sandisk Cruzer Flash Drives, and they fit perfectly inside this case. The elastic at the top of each pocket holds the drives snug in place. Having the elastic there also ensures that the different size Flash Drives will remain in place. The black mesh of the pocket, allows me to see the body of the USB drive, which helps me identify which drive is which. (I own the black Cruzer drives as well as a three-color assortment
great for color-coding files the contents of each drive!)
The zipper works great. It easily slides around the side of the case, and the broad zipper-pull makes using the zipper simple. When the case is closed, all six Flash Drives fit nicely inside. The case does not bulge. Its attractive and practical.
This case is not waterproof. If you travel with this case, make sure it is tucked inside another bag. While the case material is mostly moisture-resistant, the case is not water-tight. However, the case is padded, and my Flash Drives are protected from jostling. I also know where to find my Flash Drives since this case keeps them in order
and all in one place.
Purchasing
I bought this case from Staples for $6.99.
Summary
Im happy using this Case Logic USB Drive Shuttle to protect my Flash Drives. It is compact, and keeps the drives organized and protected. I would buy it again.
I hope you found this review useful.
