bjxray's Full Review: J. D. Salinger - Catcher in the Rye
Who hasnt heard of this book? Its the book you weren't suppose to read as kid. The book you werent allowed to have in school. But now, you CAN read it...and you SHOULD.
J.D. Salinger's "The Catcher In The Rye" is a timeless classic in my opinion. Captivating all those who read it, in a way that no other book has. This is no Stephen King "overrated, look how unoriginal I can be" type book. This is a true novel with a completely original and interesting storyline. Nothing at the top of my mind really compares to the adventure you go through with Holden.
The way the story is told, you're always wondering and trying to guess weather Holden is crazy or just a teenager...sometimes its one in the same. But thats how well written the book is, it makes you think about it. I really did care about the characters as well, they felt real and emotional. Salinger did a fantastic job with this book.
A lot of controversy has been sparked from this book and how many law breakers have read it. I think its just coincedence, but its kinda funny to think of a great book such as Catcher in the Rye being flagged by the FBI. But I'm getting slightly off topic...if you're reading this wondering if you should read The Catcher in the Rye I honestly think you should exit this window, sign offline and go to a local Barnes N Noble or Half Price Books or wherever you buy books and pick up a copy. Paper back is like 10 dollars at the most. If you're thinking "If I sign offline I can't go to where I buy my books because I do it online" then you need to shut it smart guy. ';]
