| LILvoyce's Full Review: Celestial Seasonings Raspberry Zinger |
Thought I would try Celestial Seasonings Raspberry Zinger. I like to try all sorts of teas.
Celestial Seasonings Raspberry Zinger
Your getting a Caffeine Free Herbal tea, that is suppose to be raspberry in flavor. Your getting 20 tea bags per package, and they can run you about $3 to $3.50 a box. This tea can be served either hot or cold. This tea does not contain any nutritional value and makes a great choice for dieters.
Ingredients
Hibiscus, Rosehips, Roasted Chicory, Orange Peel, Blackberry Leaves, Natural Raspberry Flavor with other Natural Flavors (Contains Soy Lecithin), Raspberries and Raspberry Leaves.
Preparation
Steeping time is 4-6 minutes. The serving size is 8 oz per bag steeped. I prefer a bit less, more like 6 oz. After steeping remove bag and add sweetener if desired. They also give an Iced tea Recipe: Pour 1 cup boiling water over two tea bags in a heat-resistant container, Steep 4-6 minutes. If desired add sweetener while hot, Add one cup of cold water and then chill.
My thoughts
I brewed a cup of this tea and tried to drink it hot first. It tasted very tart unsweetened. Once I sweetened it, it didn't get to much better. It sort of reminded me of a Raspberry Gelatin before it sets, only a bit weaker in flavor. Honestly, I really didn't think this tasted much like a tea. I tried to give it another chance and I decided to serve it chilled. Ah.. much better. It sort of then reminded me of a Raspberry Koolaid but not as sweet. It did have a slight tartness and bite that Koolaid does not have. I guess that is where the "Zing," comes in.
I would have to say that this tea only tastes pleasant when served cold, over ice, and sweetened. The color of this tea when steeped maximum time is a medium orange/amber color. I would have to say that this tea is light in flavor and really didn't taste herbal.
Overall
I would purchase this tea again, but only make it chilled. I like the idea of the Koolaid flavor without all of the artificial ingredients that some of these sweetened drinks have. I would only rate this average at best, because while I like it, I can't enjoy it hot, and it doesn't really taste like tea. This is not a full bodied tea, it is very light in taste.
