jo.com's Full Review: Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion
Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion is made by Galderma Laboratories. I am reviewing the lotion, although it also comes in cleansers as well.
About Cetaphil:
According to the website www.cetaphil.com The Cetaphil® Family of Cleansers and Moisturizers is an exciting line of dermatologist-recommended gentle skin care products specially formulated for many skin types and conditions." This is one of several products over the years that has been recommended to me. I have been using Cetaphil in various forms for quite a long time.
I currently have and am reviewing the 16-ounce size which has a pump style applicator. It costs $9.99 in the drugstore or discount store. Although the website doesnt show the 8-ounce size for $6.99, I have in the past had that as well. Cetaphil Moisture Lotion is for dry, sensitive skin. It is fragrance free. It claims to provide long lasting relief to skin that is very dry.
The website also claims that this can be used on your face and I have in a panic done so. When I have had the smaller version and I have looked in the mirror in my car only to see dry skin, I have pulled this out and put it on my face. It works instantly. In general I keep it as a body moisturizer but I have had no adverse affects from it on any part of my body. It is made for sensitive skin and I am a testimonial to the fact this has caused no problems.
It is non-comodogenic (wont clog pores), claims to be oil free and non-greasy, mild, non-irritating and long lasting. We are told that the formula contains a system of emollients and humectants (Moisturizers, especially oil-free products, may contain non-oily humectants that prevent water loss from the skin by attracting moisture. http://www.e-moisturizer.net/) to bind moisture to the skin and rejuvenate it so that it is soft.
The fragrance-free moisturizer contains no lanolins or parabens that could irritate sensitive skin.
The directions say to apply it daily or as directed by a physician.
I obviously like Cetaphil Moisture Lotion a lot since I continue to buy it. It is a fairly thick white cream that absorbs nicely into my skin. In spite of it leaving my skin feeling nice and moisturized, there is no oily feeling and the claim of it not feeling greasy is true, at least for me.
I have reviewed some products for dry skin that I couldnt touch a book for an hour after putting it on- thats how greasy they were.
Aquaphor Healing Ointment and Avon Moisture Therapy Hand Cream are two such product. Not so for Cetaphil.
The moisturizing feeling lasts for hours. I dont feel the need to continue to put it on, though I do pump it into my hands whenever I walk by it and when I have a smaller version probably use it more than is necessary! I like it and I like the way it feels.
Although I can barely smell any fragrance (This is fragrance free.) and I have a good nose for smelling the website suggests that you might smell something "that is the normal scent of the chemicals in the formula without any masking fragrance. If we were to mask this scent, the formula might be harsher to your skin."
There is no sunscreen in this so I tend to use it when I am inside (During school and I keep a bottle by my computer. I also love this for after showers.)
I love Cetaphil and have since bought other Cetaphil products (not yet reviewed). I do highly recommend the moisture lotion.
