The Bottom Line: Gets the job done without instilling fear of a kitchen incident. Easily sanitized. I'm somewhat myso-/germo-/bacillophobe...whatever it's called, I KEEP clean hands and surfaces. I can definitely use this slicer--safely.

Sets up quickly. Instructions are clear and to the point with PICTURES! Stays in place. Smooth operating in all facets.
Blades very sharp, but doesn't spin frighteningly fast so a novice can feel confident.
I believe it's not the blade for fine slicing (can be ordered), however I recently sliced an oven-roasted turkey breast as thin as I've ever gotten it at a deli. This turkey costs (if you can find it--organic) $5.99 for 7oz, so that's 13.69 for a pound. Sliced a wholesale bulk piece for pennies on the dollar per pound cost.
There was shredded turkey left underneath--a result of the breast not being as "solid" as it could have been AND the slicer. The distance between the blade and slide, regardless of thickness selected, is too great lending to some small pieces getting caught and shifted to the space between.
The plate to supposedly catch the slice is ????? I mean, the design of the unit forces you to catch the slices in your hand so or they pile against the back of the unit and eventually back up to the blade. The clearance cannot be more the 1.5 - 2 inches.
Disassembly for cleaning is incredibly easy not requiring any tools. Though removing the blade...they could have included a guard so you can remove it without touching the blade at all. Get a towel. You can clean EVERYTHING that touches/catches food, so slicing a slab of bacon was of no concern.
Greasing it up is easy and you just use petroleum jelly except on the underside of the sliding plate--wd40 or something.
