Pros: Honest and inspiring book about adoption, love, and spirituality
Cons: Some plot twists seemed like they have been overdone in the past
The Bottom Line: I would absolutely recommend this book (especially to any adoptees or adoptive parents). Garrotto's writing style is beautiful and his story is heartfelt.

| obisan69's Full Review: Alfred J. Garrotto - Circles Of Stone |
Supermodel Natalia never had a desire to search for her biological parents-- her adoptive ones had given her love, opportunity, and stability. However, a chance encounter with a woman who may know something about her past challenges her to find out what is really important in her spiritual, personal, and professional lives.
Garrotto paints a beautiful picture of a woman jarred off course and struggling to redefine her place in the world. Following Natalia from the New York fashion scene to the spiritual world of El Retiro de Cristo Rey retreat center to the Peruvian orphanage where she was adopted, Garrotto keeps Circles of Stone honest and realistic.
I am not adopted, but Garrotto's writing was lucid enough to help me get in the mind of someone struggling with the idea of finding her birth parents. Having never been in a situation that could compare, it was important that this book be written in a way I could empathize with.
I finished reading this book two weeks ago, but it has stayed with me and made me think. I love when a book continues to inspire me long after I put it down. I may not have agreed with every decision that the characters made, but that made them more human and believable.
I did have a slight gripe with one of the plot twists (which I won't spoil here). It was built-up well so it made sense within the context, but it left me with a feeling of "this twist again?" It didn't feel as fresh as I would have liked.
At the end of the day, I think that this was yet another home run for Garrotto! I can't wait to read the sequel that he has just released.
