Pros: it worked, cool looking strips
Cons: strips slide all over the place and come off easily, PRICE!
The Bottom Line: Even though this product worked for my son, I recommend you try something different since the strips do not stay in place.

There we were, the day after we visited a few preschools. My brother was over and said, "Brandon, look! You've got a wart!". I said there's no way. What they heck?! Sure enough, my child had a wart on his index finger. Off to the store I went in search of something to kill it. There were several products and I ended up with the only one at the store that was made for children. It was Dr. Scholl's Clear Away One-Step Wart Remover for Kids.
NOTE: the only difference in the products for adults vs. this one for children was, I believe, the colors on the medicated strips and the size of the strips.
About the Product
I purchased a pack of 14 medicated strips at Sav On for $9.99. Yikes! If I'd had the time, I would have gone next door to Target, but I was in a rush and wasn't willing to wait. Each of the 14 medicated strips are individually sealed and have brightly colored (actually fluorescent) unisex designs on them. They aren't the typical band aid since they have a large circle where the usual band aid pad is. Within this circle is the medicated spot sent to kill the horrid wart.
Obviously, the medicated circle is to go directly over the wart itself. If you follow the directions, which are mostly common sense in my opinion, you'll do something like the following:
- wash wart area and or soak it for up to 5 minutes
- dry area completely
- apply the Clear Away One-Step Wart Remover for Kids
- leave it on for 48 hours
- repeat
Package Claims:
"- Conceals as it heals

bop's Dr. Scholl's Clear Away One-Step Wart Remover for Kids Experience
Let me first go though the claims really quick here. Yes, it's orderless. This is a big deal. I remember when I was 13 and had a wart on my foot (gross). The stuff I had to use to remove it smelled dreadful. Yes, Salicylic Acid is proven to get rid of warts and um, yes, these band aid strips do hid the wart, though it is pretty obvious that they are not the usual band aid due to the big circle in the middle. Not to mention the color and designs of the medicated strips scream "Look at me!".
My son had no problem allowing me to apply Dr. Scholl's Clear Away One-Step Wart Remover for Kids to his finger. His first words were, "That's such awesome colors, Mom!" Other remarks he made about the pseudo band aids are: "These are so sweet!" "I just love these!" So, the colors and designs are a huge hit with my four year old. I guess that's a plus since he wasn't wanting to rip them off. They were, after all, very cool and sweet.
Since you're supposed to apply a new medicated strip every 48 hours and since you can soak the wart and need it to be clean -- and since my son gets a bath every other night -- we applied Dr. Scholl's Clear Away One-Step Wart Remover for Kids after bath time.
Dr. Scholl's Clear Away One-Step Wart Remover for Kids are easy to apply. All you need to make sure of is that the medicated spot goes right on the wart. The medicated strips are the perfect size for child sized fingers.
Now, here's where I get to complain. If I'm going to pay $10 for a box of fancy band aids then they really had better stay on for the full 48 hours, right?! Well, Dr. Scholl's Clear Away One-Step Wart Remover for Kids do not stay on. They can't stay on to save their life. These silly things would come off after one to two hand washings. *sigh* What a waste! At first, I'd reapply a new strip and then I just said forget about it and would wait until the next day to replace it.
To say I'm disappointed that Dr. Scholl's Clear Away One-Step Wart Remover for Kids do not stay on is an understatement. If they don't stay on, how can they work? And even if it did stay on, it would slide all over my child's finger. I'd check it every so often and find the medicated spot was no longer over the wart, but now on a totally different part of his finger!
Even so, somehow they did work. Within 10 days my child's wart was gone. During the whole wart removing process, the skin on and around the wart would appear to be drying and peeling -- that was the Salicylic Acid doing it's thing. I like how the medicated spot also has some moisturizing ingredients so as not to do unnecessary harm to the skin around the wart.
bops_mom's Recommendation
What can I say, they worked for us. I didn't have to buy a second box, the first one did it. However, should the need for a wart removing system arise once again, I think I'll give another product a try. I really didn't care for how easily Dr. Scholl's Clear Away One-Step Wart Remover for Kids slipped off of my child's fingers and I honestly think it was amazing that the wart went away with how often the wart went without it's medicated strip in the proper place.
Thanks for reading!
