melissasrn's Full Review: Clinique Redness Solutions Daily Relief Cream, 50m...
Over the past several years, I've noticed that my skin has changed quite a bit. It's progressed from super oily and acne prone in my younger days to somewhat dry with frequent bouts of redness now that I've turned 40. While I've never been officially diagnosed with a (fair) skin condition called Rosacea by a doctor or dermatologist, I do often have problems with sensitivity and redness, especially on my cheeks. Sometimes my face looks like it's sunburned when its not or like I'm constantly blushing! If I get too hot, especially while exercising or after eating something that's super hot or spicy, the problem often gets worse. I usually don't get the pimples that are often associated with Rosacea, but I can certainly relate to a few of the others. So several months ago, I decided to check out Clinique's new "Redness Solutions" line of skin care products. I purchased this Clinique Redness Solutions Daily Relief Cream in hopes that it would help tame the redness during flare-ups. Read on to find out more about a soothing facial cream that I would easily recommend to others with similar symptoms.
According to WebMD.com, "Rosacea is a chronic skin disease that causes redness, pimples, and red lines on the nose, cheeks, chin, and forehead, and irritation in the eyes. Without treatment, rosacea can progress to large, disfiguring bumps on the nose, called rhinophyma. However, most cases of rosacea do not progress that far. Rosacea usually develops between the ages of 30 and 60 and is most common in fair-skinned people. Although rosacea cannot be cured, it can be managed with antibiotic creams and pills. Advanced forms may require procedures such as laser therapy and dermabrasion."
~~~The Redness Relief Cream~~~
Designed for people who's main skin concern is redness, this Clinique Redness Solutions Daily Relief Cream is just one of several products to choose from in the special line of soothing creams, cleansers, and powders. According to product details found at their website, it's an "extra-gentle, oil-free moisturizing cream that instantly calms skins with persistent redness-even skin with Rosacea. Relieves visible redness, blotchiness. Soothes to cool discomfort. Over time, helps improve skin's comfort, lessens the look of broken capillaries. Appropriate for skins with Rosacea." This skin care product is also allergy tested, 100% Fragrance Free, and Dermatologist certified to help with the reduction of redness. It's pale green in color, which helps to neutralize the appearance of redness almost instantly after applying. The cream itself thick with a whipped consistency, so it's easy to apply a moderate amount where needed. It can be worn alone or along with another moisturizer and/or foundation, so if redness is an issue, picking up this Clinique Redness Solutions Daily Relief Cream just might be a wise choice.
~~~Price & Availability~~~
Available for purchase at most department store Clinique counters as well as online at their website for $39.50 each, this Clinique Redness Solutions Daily Relief Cream comes in a 1.7 ounce/50ml green tinted hard plastic jar. The opening is very wide, allowing for easy access to the cream with just a fingertip. Of course the lid is silver in color to match all the other skin care products that this brand sells. Since this cream is on the thicker side, a pump style package would probably lead to dispensing issues as well as excess waste, so I don't have a problem with the simplicity of this jar's design. I personally enjoy the convenience of shopping onlineverses physically going into stores most of the time to pick up what I need, so I always take advantage of "free shipping" offers that are frequently sent to my inbox from my favorite websites. I save gas, time, and best of all, money this way! And in today's economy, it pays more and more to shop smart and hold out for the best deals. Offers for free gifts and/or samples with a purchase are often my downfall, however! Still, despite the hefty price tag, I'm finding that this Clinique Redness Solutions Daily Relief Cream is worth it.
~~~Product Experience~~~
While there is no "cure" for Rosacea including the redness symptoms that I'm more frequently dealing with, it can be controlled with soothing topical skin care products such as this Clinique Redness Solutions Daily Relief Cream. Of course there are other required methods for best results, including dietary and environmental changes as well as visiting a doctor or dermatologist. It's key to recognize products and/or situations that exacerbate the redness and in turn, avoid the causes of redness where possible. I love to run and refuse to give it up just because my face turns beet red during and after exercise! So when the intention is to treat verses prevent the irritating redness that lingers on my cheeks for hours afterward, I generously apply this soothing cream to the areas of my face in dire need of some soothing relief. The green color itself almost instantly covers up the red tint to my skin soon after it begins to absorb. I rarely use it under make-up as excessive redness usually isn't an issue when I'm wearing foundation. Instead, I prefer to apply this Clinique Redness Solutions Daily Relief Cream on "no make-up" days when I'm puttering around the house playing catch-up on my days off from work. My skin looks a bit more normal this way, so I'm less self conscious of how I look when the excessive redness is controlled.
~~~Overall Recommendation~~~
Getting older is certainly not kind to the skin (especially when we've not always been kind to it by using harsh skin care products and not always wearing sunscreen!), but treatments such as this Clinique Redness Solutions Daily Relief Cream can help calm the redness as needed. Using it as directed is quite simple: "Apply all over face, twice daily. Avoid eye area. Use in a regimen with Redness Solutions Soothing Cleanser and Daily Protective Base SPF 15 for immediate relief, steady improvement." Over time, I have noticed that my skin is gradually looking better with regular use of this product, so I'm grateful for the extra-gentle TLC provided by this cream. For my skin often requires a bit of extra pampering these days to continue looking its best. One jar will last several months when used a few days a week as I typically apply it. It's oil-free so it doesn't break me out, but in return, I often need more moisture than what this product alone provides. But overall, I highly recommend this specialty skin care product to anyone dealing with redness issues like the ones I'm dealing with. I give this Clinique Redness Solutions Daily Relief Cream a solid four star rating and will certainly be purchasing another jar when my current one is gone. Good luck and happy online Beauty product shopping :-)
