My experience with the Coleman® 2-Mantle Adjustable Lantern
I was first introduced to these Coleman 2 mantle Lanterns as a kid. I spent several years of my childhood living on an old ranch where there was no electricity. We used kerosene lamps and these Coleman 2-Mantle Adjustable Lanterns. We used the Coleman lanterns more often than the kerosene lamps because they were brighter and easier to carry. In later years I would use the same lanterns while camping in the Boy Scouts and hunting through out the years. The Coleman 2 mantle adjustable Lanterns are long lasting and very reliable. I have a couple of these lanterns that are thirty plus years old and they still work just fine. Once every few years the rubber will wear or dry out in the pump. The replacements are easily found and an easy repair. Other than that you just need a good supply of Coleman mantles and white gas and a glass globe should you break one.

How to Use the Coleman 2 - Mantle Lantern 1. Place the mantles on the lantern - Pre-burn the mantles 2. Fill the lantern with white gas 3. Pump the tank with air 4. Turn the gas on and put fire or spark next to the mantles. * The lantern and the mantles come with instructions that are easily followed. * The glass globe is cleaned with warm soapy water and should be washed after each trip. * Always oil the rubber gasket in the pump a couple a times a year.
Conclusion Coleman has been designing and manufacturing lanterns for well over one hundred years. I have, use and am fond of several different models of the Coleman lanterns. However the older model, Coleman 2 Mantle Adjustable Lantern is the mainstay in my outdoor lighting needs. I have five of these lanterns. Every once in a while a company will make something that lasts much longer than anyone would have thought. The Coleman 2 Mantle Adjustable Lantern is one of these rare occurrences. It's simply a must have for the camper, hunter, fisherman and other types of outdoors people. I have always had good results with these lanterns. They are always reliable and ready to provide light. I have been around a large variety of camping lights over the years. If I had to choose only one lantern to have while camping it would be the Coleman 2 mantle adjustable lantern, hands down. I would highly recommend the mainstay of Coleman lanterns to any outdoors person. It's kept my camps lit for the past thirty years.
