The first night we tried to get my two and a half year old son to sleep in his new bed, complete with new sheets and blanket he had picked out, he got into the bed, then said, "No, Mommy." He did not like the openness of a bed verses his crib. While I do like the concept of a toddler bed as a transition to a regular bed, This one is not very cozy to a small child. There are no side rails, so the child is more likely to fall out while they are asleep, although it is not a very high fall and they wouldn't get hurt. Side rails make for a better experience though.
This bed also will not hold up if your child decides to jump on it. The bottom frame will bend into a V shape and you cannot straighten it back out. (Trust me on this one).
