Covergirl Lash Blast Mascara: I wish I liked it better...

Cons: Brush is too big; mascara is clumpy, takes long to dry.
The Bottom Line: Covergirl Lash Blast is just too clumpy for my taste; it adds LOTS of volume, yes, but it's just way too dramatic for me. I prefer a more natural look.

I'm always on the hunt for a great mascara. After seeing the commercials on TV about Covergirl Lash Blast, I knew that I had to try it. So I headed out to my nearest Walgreens and purchased it. It's affordable, only $7.99 for the .044 ounce tube.
The mascara is packaged in a good-sized tube, which is orange in color. You sure can't miss it! The available colors are Brown, Black, Black-Brown, and Very Black. The shade I chose was Very Black. Covergirl Lash Blast is available available in regular and waterproof formulas, and it is hypoallergenic and safe for those who wear contacts.
After opening the package, and unscrewing the top, I was immediately drawn to the size of the mascara brush bristles. Covergirl states that it's "the biggest ever", (Covergirl.com) and I believe it! It truly is a fat brush - the bristles are orange! - and holds a lot of mascara. Immediately, I was wondering how this brush wouldn't cause clumping. It didn't take long to find out!
The mascara applies fine at first, but every time you put the brush back in the tube, of course more mascara clings to the brush. The very next day, the brush was completely full of mascara and there was no way that I could stop the mascara from clumping onto my lashes. The more I tried to fix it, the worse it got. So by the time I was done, my lashes felt so heavy with mascara. My husband asked me if Tammy Faye had been teaching me how to put on makeup! Gah!
I will say that this mascara adds quite a bit of length to my lashes, which are long to begin with, but I'm not sure if that's because of the product or if it's because of how I try to "fix" the clumping problem.
Since I didn't choose the waterproof formula (big mistake!) the mascara does flake off by the end of the day and if you're like me, and your eyes are sensitive to every little thing, then you'll have mascara ringing your eyes before 9p.m. Not good.
Covergirl Lash Blast may be great for other women, but it's just not for me. I don't like the feeling of heavy lashes, nor do I like the clumping aspect. While it does add lots of volume, it's just too much. Maybe it's okay for those who want the ultimate dramatic look - but I'd like a more natural look and feel to my lashes.
