Magick1's Full Review: Cream of Wheat Instant Hot Cereal - Original - Pac...
I am always trying to find items that I enjoyed as a kid, but don't want to spend a lot of time preparing. I know that I loved Cream of Wheat as a kid and was wandering through the stores one day and noticed they had an instant one available. I picked it up.
I tried to introduce my child to the wonderful flavors and the "play with your food" fun you could have with Cream of Wheat. But, she wasn't too interested, no matter what kind of fun stuff I tried to get her to mix into her cereal!
The Product
This is a package that has 12 individual packages inside. So, if you need to grab one on the go, it's really easy. The packages all have the instructions on how to prepare the cereal right on them so you don't have to have the box with you to prepare this away from home!
The packages have 1 serving (roughly 28g) of cereal. Preparation is pretty easy. But, you have to make sure you watch it closely! You can mix this with water or milk and you just need 2/3 cup of either water or milk. You cook it on high in the microwave for 1 - 1 1/2 minutes and then stir it for 1 minute and serve.
I actually use the super hot water tap from the coffee maker in our vending area. I stir it up and let it cool down and that works wonderfully, no microwaving needed. (Our water from the coffee maker it almost to the point of boiling and steaming, so this could vary depending on how hot your water is!)
If you choose to do this the traditional way (on the stove) the package contains the instructions to do that as well. You just have to empty the package into a bowl and on the stove heat up water or milk and stir. So, it's not very different, except you are using a pan to heat up the water or milk to make the instant cereal!
This cereal offers 8 essential vitamins and minerals and is a great way to start the day! Instead of pulling through a drive-through somewhere, spending quite a bit of money and getting tons of fatty items, I am eating healthier, cheaper and kind of feeling like I did when mom used to fix me Cream of Wheat before school when I was young!

Overall Impressions
I really enjoy this cereal. I used to love mixing in a touch of butter, sugar and either cinnamon or brown sugar. Now, I just usually use a bit of Splenda or sugar. I occasionally will mix in some blueberries if I am at home or other fruits.
I tried to get my kiddo to try sugar, cinnamon, brown sugar and even a touch of chocolate chips to help entice her to try it. But, even now, she doesn't enjoy this cereal. Goodness, she won't even eat regular breakfast cereal in a bowl with milk in it (even if it changes the milk to chocolate milk). She eats the cereal dry and then will drink her milk, but that's all! I hope she comes around some time, because this is an excellent breakfast cereal and it's comforting and warms you up when its cold outside.
I was very happy to reconnect with this cereal after many years of not eating it. It's quicker than I remember and it tastes just as good. It's easy to grab quickly and take to work and prepare, so I can get a good breakfast, which is a great thing!
If you never have had it before, try it. If you have had it, but it's been a long time ago, try it again for the "first time" and have a walk down memory lane. It's a good way to start your day and it will help give you energy to keep going!
