| memphisny_joe's Full Review: Creative Technology Nomad Jukebox (20 GB) MP3 Play... |
THIS IS FOR JUKEBOX 3. The pictures and titles are reversed in parts if the epinions index.
The player I own now is much better than the same player that I bought 8 months ago. I just upgraded the firmware for the 5th time. Each time the unit gets better and better. They really seem to be listening to customer feed back and making fixes available for free. This amount of continued support by the maker give me a real comfort zone.
The player software that comes with the player is intuitive and easy to use. I easily ripped every CD I own to MP3 files. The software automatically creates a folder for each album and a file for each song. Genre and artist information are associated with each trac. If you search by artist you can find every song by a given artist even if they only did a single trac on a few compilation albums. Or you can sort by genre and play every Christmas song in your collection.
Through your PC you can rename albums change genres and rearrange all the tracks from a 3-CD set into one album with 30 plus tracks. This is important when you have some many "The Best of Albums." You can also delete the song you will never listen too.
The software doesn't ask for licensing and royalty info. It leaves your copying up to your own conscience.
The Creative file manager easily transfered 5 gigs of digital photos from my home computer to the player and from the player to my work computer. Drag and drop like windows explorer. The player is a fully functional portable hard drive. They keep upgrading this software for free too. Just keeps getting better and better.
The player is a little larger than some others, but with two batteries I get over two weeks of listening during my commutes. I've dropped it more than once and carried it in and out of NYC hundreds of times. It takes a lickin and keeps on tickin.
The sound quality of the Jukebox 3 is close to my component system and if you buy the "ear plug" type of phones from Koss or Schure you can get very high sound levels with full base without disturbing those near you and very long battery life. You really should include the second battery, which does increase the output volume and of course the battery life.
The car kit work great. You can take a road trip with the family had bring along everybody's music without fumbling around for CDs.
