| nortos's Full Review: Cuisinart CWM-100 Stainless Steel 1000 Watts Micro... |
I replaced my 5+ yr old Sharp Microwave with the Cuisinart CMW-100 Stainless Steel Microwave. When I first bought this microwave a year ago, I loved it because my old microwave had “issues” like starting on its own with nothing in it. Although the exterior size is about the same as my previous microwave, the interior is slightly smaller, at first this wasn’t a problem until I went to heating items up in the microwave that were in microwave safe serving dishes I used before - As long as you make sure you reheat or cook in a dish or bake ware that fits properly in this microwave it shouldn’t present a problem.
The exterior of this microwave is stainless steel with the vents on top of the microwave in the rear, for me this was a big plus as my previous microwave had the vents on the bottom in the front and every time I would use it the warm air from the microwave would flow into my kitchen. Not a problem in the winter, but who needs the extra heat being added to a room you are trying to cool down with AC. The way this microwave is set up the air flows to the back. In my case the microwave sits in a premade microwave cabinet. There is more than enough room all around it for the air to vent, it's just not flowing full force into my kitchen.
The external dimensions of the microwave are 20.1 x 17.3 x 11.1 inches and it weights about 34 pounds. The internal dimensions are 12 3/4 x 12 3/4 x 9. The turntable inside the microwave is about 12.40
Some of the features I love about this microwave are the 8 preset (Auto Menu) options with serving-size options for each. Popcorn (3 different oz. settings), Beverage (2 different oz settings) , Rice (3 different settings), Reheat (5 different settings), Fresh Vegetables (3 different settings), Frozen Vegetables (3 different settings), Baked Potatoes (3 different settings), and Bacon (3 different settings).
The front panel consists of the following:
An AM/PM button (used when setting the clock time)
Memory Button
Kitchen Timer
Auto DeFrost (press to select how much time you want to defrost something)
Timed Defrost (has preset settings that is based on how much the item you are defrosting weighs – I prefer the auto defrost setting myself)
Number Keys (1 through 6 are express cook buttons, simply press 1 through 6 to cook for the # of minutes)
Clock/Pre-Set (how you set the time on your microwave
Power (used to reduce the power level you are cooking at – full power is 10 and then by pressing the button, you can reduce all the way down to power level 1)
Stop/Clear (present this once and it will stop the microwave, but will not delete the remaining cooking time. Press a second time and it clears the remaining cooking time on the display.)
Start/+30 sec. (When not using the express cook keys 1-6, you would press start after pressing the function key you want, or after reducing your power level, etc. starting the microwave. While the microwave is on, if you want to add additional cook time, you can press this button and it will add an additional 30 seconds of cook time.)
I lost my original instruction booklet, but found another downloadable one at:

I don’t do my main cooking in the microwave as I don’t like the way meat tastes after being cooked in it. I do all my defrosting in it, the vegetables, reheating, potatoes, bacon, melting butter and of course popping popcorn. After using this microwave for a year I have found what I don’t like are the size and also the fact that the turntable inside the microwave, becomes dislodged from is plastic wheel at times. It then starts to make a strange sound and I find it difficult to actually put the glass turntable back in its proper place. Under the glass turntable it has glass nubs on it that have to line up just so with the plastic nubs on the ring wheel that turns the turntable. It’s a small nuisance, but I like to be honest in my epinions.
I bought this microwave from Fortunoffs last year for $149.00. It is still available online at Amazon.com (with free supersave shipping) for $149.00. It comes with a 3 year manufactures warranty, which hopefully I won’t need. Their customer service # is 1-800-726-0190.
