| cluckadee's Full Review: DeWalt Heavy-Duty Reciprocating Saw With Kit Box -... |
I was in the market for a reciprocating saw for my line of work. I am a maintenance engineer for an apartment community and need tools that will take the abuse and will hold up. I did some research like always before I make a purchase. I found that the DeWalt line had a heavy gauge winding motor and durable gearing. I wanted a tool that wasn't too heavy and would be comfortable to use. At the Local hardware they had the DeWalt DW303MK for $99. I liked the way the DW303MK looked and felt Here is how I rated it:
Ease of use: surprisingly lightweight and comfortable to hold onto. The saw is short; about 17 inches long making it easy to use in those tight area's. easy to use trigger built for easy access. One screw angle adjustment and easy access allan screw to replace blades in the chuck.
Power: I was able to cut (with the right type of blades) steel wire shelves, nails in a door casing, wood planks (1 inch thick), sheet rock, toilet bolt rusted; all with ease. The motor seems to have a lot of power and doesn't seem to strain when you push it.
Durability: made of the industrial strength plastic, Large internal cooling fan (most other top name brands I found out have a small fan), easy access for motor brush replacement (side plate on the side of the motor) making the DeWalt DW303mk easy to service. I once took the saw apart and found that it had a specialized grease on its gearing. Most ones I have looked at just have a blob of oil or grease in the gearing that soon became dry after awhile.
Value: If you want a top quality saw and don't mind not having a lot of the bell's and whistles, then this one is right for you and for $99 you can't go wrong.
