Pros: Great suction and cleaning ability, easy to empty, easy to use.

Cons: No headlight.

The Bottom Line: The initial investment is steep, but I feel worth every penny. Our carpet hasn't looked this good since we bought our house.

My wife and I decided our old bag Eureka had seen better days long ago. We just adopted a dog and it was struggling to pick up the hair. While shopping for vacuums the unique design of the Dyson caught out eye, and after reading several user reviews on the Dyson and other brands, we picked the Dyson. That was 8 months ago and we do not regret it.

The vacuum works as well today as went it came out of the box, and that is after 2-3 uses per week on a 1600 square foot home with a dog and two small children. Needless to say the Dyson gets a good workout. The first few times we vacuumed we were amazed at what it was pulling out of our carpet. There is no way our old bag vacuum was picking all that up, or we would have had to change the bag every other vacuuming! Our carpets actually looked brighter and cleaner. Emptying is a snap as well...no more nasty bags and mess.

If I could offer one piece of advice is definitely read the directions thoroughly. I am not a "read the directions" kind of guy but luckily my wife is. The directions will help you assemble your vacuum properly (without the seal properly installed you will have no or very little suction). Also, I found the wand very cumbersome to use until my wife showed me it extends...yeah, directions to the rescue again.

About the only negative I can find is I would like a headlight but it isn't absolutely necessary. There are some instances where it would be helpful.
