linda-l's Full Review: Dyson DC17 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum
For years I had seen Dyson vacuum cleaners being sold, they always seemed a fad to me. They looked like the kind of expensive machines you have to look nice but dont particularly work well. That was BEFORE I saw one in action, my brother got one as a gift and when I saw it work, I was truly amazed. He has 6 cats and although his carpet appeared clean, he merely hoovered 1 square meter and filled half the bucket with fur!
I was shocked and amazed at the same time. I never did buy one in the UK, but when we moved to the US we did. It was a very good investment, despite it being expensive compared to other brands, it really does work. It NEVER ceases to amaze me how much fur, dander and dust this machine picks up. The clear bucket will show you evidence of all your dead skin cells, your dead hair and other bits and bobs. It is quite freaky!
My package came with the turbo brush, brilliant for stairs, other tools such as the one you can vacuum your mattress and another attachment which allows you to reach under low furniture. There are other tools available, such as the crevice tool, but I have no experience using this.
For maintenance all you have to do is clean the filter (bottom of the machine), once every 6 months - this only involves rinsing this round disc in plain water and letting it dry. Nothing too taxing, and then your ready to go again.
The customer service is also great. I broke the motor belt a few weeks ago and they sent me a new one within a week.
