eBay the Smart Way by Joseph Sinclair is a decent primer, but has little to offer experienced buyers or sellers. I was looking for seller tips, and the book is slanted toward eBay buyers. I have been buying and selling for about a year, and I have a feedback rating of 60 plus, so I have some experience but by no means am an expert. Still, in my humble opinion eBay TSW breaks little new ground.
A seller who is trying to ramp up sales today probably would not use the Sinclair method of learning HTML and using a database program to manage auctions. There are too may good programs such as Auction Submit for creating auction pages (free!) and eBud for managing auctions (about $40).
The best part of the book for me was info that Sinclair got from the eBay site and reprinted, such as some rules for buying and selling. I probably would not have surfed eBay site to find the info. I think that a novice to eBay could read this book and get oriented, or simply surf eBay and some auction support sites and accomplish the same thing.
