Cons: A bit expensive, (but look at what you get), boxy looking (but who cares), driver installation problem (maybe)

This scanner is high in my list. Aside from the Epson name, here is a list of why I am happy with my Epson Perfection 1200U scanner:
Start button for one-touch scanning!
Comes with four programs: Adobe PhotoDeluxe, Broderbund The Print Shop PressWriter, NewSoft Presto! PageManager for Epson, and ArcSoft Photo Printer.
It comes with a transparency unit. This means you can scan 35mm negative or positive film, brownie size film (2.4x3.5in), 4x5 film, and slides. Yay!
High speed and great quality scans.
Optical character recognition (OCR). So that you're able to scan text and export it to your word processor.
Features: True optical resolution of 1200dpi, hardware resolution of 1200x2400dpi, maximun resolution of 9600x9600dpi with interpolation, 36-bit color depth for capturing images with over 68 billion colors.
I did encounter one problem during the driver installation. I contacted Epson's support and they helped me quickly and efficiently.
But let not my small problem keep you from getting such a wonderful product. I even got an Epson printer a day or so after purchasing this scanner. A combination of both gets me photo quality prints and a rebate from Epson (check its website for rebates too!).
