Early last month, I finally made the decision to purchase Estee Lauder Idealist Skin Refinisher to see what all the fuss was about. So when I went online to order this highly praised (yet very expensive!) skin care product, I took a quiz at www.esteelauder.com regarding my particular skin care needs. After answering a few simple questions, this online site recommended Estee Lauder Clear Difference Oil-Control Hydrator for my oily, acne-prone skin. So on a whim, not only did I order a bottle of Idealist to try, but I also picked up a bottle of this Clear Difference as well. At least shipping was free and I did not have to pay sales tax on my otherwise pricey order. Once my new skin care products arrived at my door, I was more than eager to give them a try. And now over a month later, I am truly amazed at the wonderful results so far!
~~~The Product~~~
Estee Lauder Clear Difference Oil-Control Hydrator is a moisturizing facial care product designed for those with oily, normal/oily and blemish prone skin. According to the packaging advertising: Oily skin will never be the same. This refreshing formula brings oily skin into balance, dramatically improving skin in two ways. Oil Control and Breakout Prevention: Exclusive Enzyme Technology "re-programs" skin to produce measurably less oil. Mattes-out shine instantly, even in the T-Zone. Absorbs excess oil all day. Unclogs pores to help eliminate breakouts. Balanced Hydration: Delivers oil-free moisture when and where it's needed. Helps keep skin clearer, softer, more supple as it reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Quite similar in its claims and ingredients to Origins Matte Scientist, which I already use on a daily basis with noticeable results, this oil-control hydrator contains Salicylic Acid to help fight pimples as well as Green Tea Extract to soothe and moisturize my sometimes reddened skin tone. While Matte Scientist contains a mild Eucalyptus fragrance, Clear Difference has a sweeter, perfume-like scent instead. This white creamy facial moisturizer is a bit thin in consistency yet glides on easily and smoothly with the fingertips with ease. Used daily over a thin layer of Estee Lauder Idealist Skin Refinisher to provide light, oil-free moisture while preventing excess breakouts, Estee Lauder Clear Difference Oil-Control Hydrator provides the perfect amount of light hydration without looking or feeling greasy or heavy. My skin feels refreshingly smooth and soft with each application, and my foundation goes on with ease while it stays in place all day over this fantastic skin care product.
~~~Packaging & Price~~~
Each 1.7 ounce (50 ml) shiny off-white and gold plastic bottle of Estee Lauder Clear Difference Oil-Control Hydrator may be purchased at the Estee Lauder counter of your favorite fine department store or online at esteelauder.com for a rather expensive $27.50. Compared to the $18.50 I paid for the same sized bottle of Origins Matte Scientist, this is a substantially higher priced light moisturizing choice. A little bit goes a long way though, so I suspect mine will last several more months easily. The bottle itself features the black and gold Estee Lauder logo and the shiny gold "twist-off" lid is removed easily with a counterclockwise turn. My only complaint about the packaging is that the plastic container is not see-through, so it's difficult to pinpoint just how much product is left inside the bottle. Squeeze a small amount of this freshly scented Estee Lauder Clear Difference Oil-Control Hydrator out of the small opening located at the top to apply, but be careful as it's quite easy to squeeze too much out by accident.
~~~Directions for Use~~~
According to the short yet sweet packaging directions found on each bottle of Estee Lauder Clear Difference Oil-Control Hydrator: Apply all over cleansed face AM and PM. Avoid eye area. Dermatologist and Ophthalmologist tested. Once I wash my face in the shower with a cleanser designed for oily skin, such as Origins Mint Wash, and then apply a gentle toner, a thin layer of Idealist goes on next. I allow that to "set" for a few minutes and then apply some Clear Difference all over my face (with the exception of the tender skin under my eyes). Almost immediately any tightness is gone, and my face feels lightly moisturized and refreshed without an oily residue left behind. The matte finish is perfect for foundation to "stick" to and I've noticed less shine as the day goes by, even in this hot summer weather we've had this year. Now that I've finally discovered that even oily skin types need moisture too, this Estee Lauder Clear Difference Oil-Control Hydrator does the job perfectly without clogging my pores or causing excess breakouts. I'm in love :-)

~~~Overall Recommendation~~~
If you can spare the extra cash and need a superior oil-controlling hydrator to help control blemishes while reducing redness in the process, Estee Lauder Clear Difference Oil-Control Hydrator is definitely the way to go. Even though I found this youthful skin care product quite by accident, this light facial moisturizer designed for those with oily, acne-prone skin has easily found a permanent place in my daily skin care regime. While I still continue to use Origins Matte Scientist daily in the evening after a layer of Origins A Perfect World White Tea Skin Guardian is applied, Clear Difference seems to work better for me when worn under make-up as noticeably less shine is produced all day long. So in the end, taking a big chance on this expensive skin care product had positive results on my skin even though my pocketbook sure feels substantially lighter. This is one example where you do get what you pay for, though! Thus, Estee Lauder Clear Difference Oil-Control Hydrator comes highly recommended from me. Give it a try today and I suspect that you'll appreciate the noticeable results just as much as I have. Good luck and stay beautiful :-)
