Pros: low price
Cons: clueless staff, beware damage assesments!
The Bottom Line: Insist on an inspection and sign-off on the spot.

We just had an experience very similiar to Sherod's earlier post. We dropped off a sedan with no damage that we could see. The drop-off site was a dark garage, and no one came out to inspect the car. We walked from the garage into the office and dropped off the keys. We thought everything was fine until our credit card statement arrived with a $123AUD charge on it. When I contacted them, they said it was for damage in the form of a dent on the trunk (rear bonnet). We have no way to contest this. I was given a phone number for their claims dept in Melbourne, so we'll see. In hindsight, I should have insisted that someone come out and inspect the car and sign off before we handed over the keys. I was told that all returns are subject to "final inspection", and that sometimes means after they wash it. So basically, they have a blank check with your credit card, after you've left the country.
I can also echo the cluelessness of the staff, not knowing their own policies, conflicting stories, etc. We had rented a "compact 4WD" from this same office. We were told we would get a Nissan X-Trail, which is a decent vehicle in my experience. When we arrived to pick up, they gave us a Mitsubishi Outlander, which is much cheaper, and more importantly, is NOT a 4WD! When I pointed this out, the 20-something just shrugged. It was the only SUV they had on the lot, so it was take it or leave it. No effort to get us a 4WD or offer any compensation.
I would agree that the low prices do not offset the poor service, etc.
