| paulv's Full Review: Faball Jack Hammer Bowling Ball |
Hammer keeps making strides to compete with Brunswick, Columbia and Track. This relatively new ball by Hammer has the makings of a very competitive if not versatile piece of equipment. The boomer core (same core in the new syntactive) is even rolling, hard hitting and it is big! It is not as big as the offset blocks but the advantage is in the even roll. The shell of the Jackhammer is shinny and it doesn't track as fast as all the soft shell balls, regardless of the manufacturer. The Syntactive is the worst for tracking out (in the FAB family) and the Sledge Hammer get real shinny real fast because it sucks up lane conditioner instantly. The Jack Hammer resist the lane conditioner and keeps it's surface longer. You still need to keep it clean and if you don't wipe it off after every shot (every ball) the ball will change how it reacts. This ball will get down the lane and you can play it down the boards or swing to the dry area with the confidence that it will come back. This ball polishes well and can be sanded to adjust the surface to your lane conditions. You can drill two the same way leave one with the factory finish and sand the other, guess what two different balls. Using this ball with a high gloss is my preference because I need length and a late flip. Reaching the balls preferred axis point late on the lane allows me to carry better and I rather throw one and sit down instead of looking at a corner pin. Wouldn't you? As always I recommend a long visit with your pro shop people, drilling does make a difference and so do lane conditions! The pro shop you use should know your game and if not find a new one or teach them who you are. Don't let the ratings fool you, any player, all lane conditions and your style effects change in this ball and every ball.
