Pros: Great when new, high power suction
Cons: Every plastic piece breaks. Tips over when in use. Requires difficult frequent cleaning/emptying.
The Bottom Line: Do not buy it. Great product when new and fully functional, but cheap plastic, poor cansister, and clogging parts make you eventually decide that dirty rugs aren't so bad.

After all the hype when you get the phantom you expect a lot. And it starts out good. Pulls tons of stuff from carpets and rugs, including heavy pet hair. Retractable cord is great, and unique design works on stairs.
Then 30-90 days go by and the trouble begins. With ours it was first the retractible cord that stopped retracting. They wanted me to send it back (and live without a vacuum for a while) but I was under the return policy so I bought a new one and just returned the first. Great.
Took another 3-4 months for the cord to break again, and 2.5 years later it's still broken. Then the plastic connectors that hold the head unit on the end of the wand broke off, so the only solution was to tape it on meaning you couldn't change to the hardwood floor head unit. Then the connector at the top of the wand (plastic) broke too. this thing looks like it went through the war, and all it did was vacuum the house twice a week.
The parts inside the canister also come off when you bang it to get dirt out while emptying, so you get the fun of putting your hands on these dust-soaked items and forcing them back into place. Add to this the frequent clogs of the power-head, and you have one 'wish I didn't buy it' vacuum.
For the premium price, a few steel parts and better engineering would make this a winner. For now, it's a disaster.
