I chose Farberware Millenium because Consumer Reports rated them as superior. I really didn't consider others. I knew I wanted nonstick and I wanted something that would last for many years. I have seen very few pots and pans that meet both of these criteria, but this product did. I love that you can use metal utensils on them, put them in the oven (up to 400 degrees), and toss them in the dishwasher with no ill effect. I first bought Farberware in 1996. I did not buy these pots and pans in a set, because I found that the sets contained sizes I didn't want and did not contain sizes that I did want, so I bought open stock and I have continued to add to my collection over the years. I now have about 10 different pots and pans plus lids for most of them.
I have not used them at all gently, I have burnt stuff on them, dropped them, used them to broil, I use metal utensils as well as wood and plastic utensils, I always clean them in the dishwasher, instead of by hand; yet they look almost new. The nonstick surfaces have remained nonstick and show virtually no wear and the stainless steel exteriors are shine and smooth. I will not use any other pot or pan to make hot cereal or to heat milk.
These are not fancy looking pots and pans, but they look good to me. However, my only complaint is that the lids get very hot very fast. If you cook anything covered, you had better have potholder on hand to remove the lid. However, this is a mixed blessing, because it allows you to put a covered pot in the oven without worrying that the handle on the lid will be ruined. The handles on the pots and pans also get hot, but it seems to take longer, and because they are quite long they don't get as hot as the lids.
