| dkin69's Full Review: Fitness Quest Total Gym 1000 |
I purchased my Total Gym 1000 about 1 year ago. It was fairly expensive but with my new full time job I found the extra money. But the total gym looks incredible on television infomercials, and they make it look so hard when in reality it isnt. The few complaints I have about this product are the resistance levels, yes there are many but keep in mind on the highest level you are still only lifting 60% of your wieght (which I dont really believe). Chuck Norris (Host on the Infomercial) must wigh atleast 230lbs which means he would be lifting 138lbs. It may sound like alot but trust me you get on this thing and it doesnt I wiegh 170lbs, highest incline I lift 102lbs. If those were barbells I would not be able to do it at all I dont think that this system is actual wieght. I worked out for seven months everday with this machine and I saw no change in my physique. Now I am not disputing the fact that this is a quality machine. I could just have bad genes but I got better results with the same hours a day for two months with barbells. After about 2 months things started to go wrong with my machine screws fell out and the glide board fell off its track repeatedly (got very annoying). This machine is good if you would like a cardio workout or would like to firm up those biceps or widen that back but as far as definition goes I recommend you stick with barbells. What I did like about the TG1000 is how smooth the workout went. Changing from exercise to exercise in under 10 seconds is very good for your work out, and I did like how it came with a book with all the exercises and a work out for beginner, intermediate, and advanced. If you are in the market for a home gym this may be good for you if you fit the criteria above. If you would like a machine that will give you the definition you are looking for or get nice and toned I recommend the Bow Flex a little bigger and way more expensive but it is worth it.
