Akon is almost on everyone's CD about now, right? I mean, everytime you turn on the radio, Akon is almost on EVERYONE's music. Akon really blew up on the music scene back in 2003 with his debut album. The album itself had a few good tracks but it wasn't consistent enough, for me anyway. Plus, Akon was a fresh music artist and I really think that is why he made such an impact on this business. His voice is rhythmic as the ocean waves...or something like that. Then, in 2006, Akon released his second album, which also made a big impact as well. Akon was finally coming into his own on that record and it really is a shame that I do not have that album yet. It has one of the biggest hits of all time on there--I Wanna Love You. In December of 2008, Akon released his third album, Freedom. This album is very consistent; it makes you move, it makes you feel good and most importantly, it's just plain awesome!

The first two singles were Right Now & Beautiful.Personally, Right Now is the best of the two. It can be played over & over and you probably will not get tired of it. Akon's voice, which by the way, his real name is Aliaune Thiam, is catchy, semi-emotional & just fun to listen to and the slick polish on the production also helps. Beautiful is too long of a song to be played over & it isn't as catchy as the first one. The third single choice is I'm So Paidwhich is one of the best songs off this album. Not only are the cameos from Lil Wayne & Young Jeezy are hot, but Akon's chorus line is extremely catchy. "Gettin it till sunrise, doing 90 in 65...number one hustla getting money, why you wanna count my money."
If Akon did choose another single for this album, I must say Keep You Much Longerwould be a good choice. This one would definitely tear up the clubs with it's hot production and Akon's voice is incredible! Almost every song on here is a hit. Troublemakerwould make a decent single choice; the production would definitely bring dancers on the dance floor & Akon with Sweet Rush also helps. It's light, fun & catchy. The simple chorus line is undeniably catchy--"Poppin bottles with models & watching them drank...they look at me and say, I heard your a heartbreaker...baby I'm a troublemaker." Even We Don't Care would do good on the radio.
If you haven't guessed by my review or others, almost every song is alike...in terms of putting you on the dance floor. Nothing in the production really changes, there may be a few tweaks here & there, but Akon's "new sound" is the same on every song. However, this isn't necessarily a bad thing here. The album really flows well with that and it is a really good album to just play through. Holla Holla with T-Pain is a really great track that slows things down a bit with it's mellow, hypnotic production. Akon has his hand in the R&B section too as heard in Against The Grain. True, it isn't as great as the others, but it still is a decent listen. I'd take this song any day than "Beautiful".
The only other song that I don't care too much for is Over The Edge. There is so much wrong on this song; akon's voice is extremely annoying on this. His tone & pitch are way off with the production number. It really shows on this song that Akon really didn't have much passion on this track.
I really enjoyed this album. Akon did a really good job producing it as well as recording it, making it a very impressive album. He definitely has made me a fan; I've always liked Akon, but not that much to go out & buy a record of his, but his album, Freedom definitely changed my opinion on him. I'd definitely recommened this album to anyone; it's fun, enjoyable, catchy, it makes you feel good, it makes you want to dance and it's definitely worthy of your attention.
