pablothegreat's Full Review: Fridge Guard by Parent Units
No, I do not have an overeater in the family. I have a child who I found sitting in the kitchen floor eating fistfulls, of all things, RAW BACON. So after rushing her to the pediatrician to make sure eating raw bacon is okay (less than 2 pieces will give a tummyache but probably will not make her sick the pediatrician said), I thought to myself that this was a fluke and she would not do it again. I mean, how good can raw bacon taste? So the second time I found her eating raw bacon, I started hunting for a fridge lock. I ordered it online and before it arrived, I caught my daughter tearing into a pack of raw hamburger meat!!! That was enough for me, as soon as it arrived, I installed it quickly and crossed my fingers that it would stay attached so my daughter, the obvious carnivore, would not make herself sick eating raw meat. I swear, I feed the child!!
The Fridge Guard arrived and was simple to put on my fridge. I was worried that it would not stay attached or my daughter could easily pull it off but the "heavy duty adhesive mounting" is fabulous! I myself pulled on it a little to see and it was stuck really well! It did not budge at all! The directions state to place it on but not to use the locking part for a couple of days. So I waited and hoped it would work to keep her out of the fridge. I love that this Fridge Guard locks automatically when you close the door! When I was searching online for one, most fridge locks did not do that. To open the fridge door, just swing the arm to the side while opening the door. Very easy to do for grownups. Harder to do for small children who can barely reach the lock. I put it as high up as possible, out of her reach. She pulled on it, bit it, hit it with her toys, I think out of disgust she even spit on it but never could get it open! Hallelujah! No more watching the fridge for raw meat snack attacks 24/7!!
I would recommend this product to anyone with a small child who continually is in the refrigerator, pulling out foods, dumping contents on the floor, or babies and children who are eating what they should not. Gives a whole new meaning to The Kitchen Is Closed until dinnertime. This product works well at locking and sticking. It was easy to install, just stick it to the fridge, and wait until it cures to lock it.
Effectively locks the refrigerator from little hands pulling out anything and everything. Easy to open for grownups, hard to open for young children. Children can not pull it off!
