Webkinz are a popular toy craze for children and adult alike. Years ago it was Beanie Babies from Ty, and now its Webkinz from Ganz. If you are unfamiliar with Webkinz they are a plush toy that comes with a special online code that brings your plush to life in the virtual Webkinz World located at the www.webkinz.com website.

For my kids, the Webkinz that started it all was the Webkinz frog. Since my son really likes frogs, we have all of the Webkinz frogs that are currently out including the original frog, big and little tree frogs, a spotted frog and a bull frog. There is a new "love frog" that will be released soon for Valentine's day and I'm sure we'll get that one too. But, since my son loved his Frog so much when I saw there was also a Lil' Kinz version of it I got that one for him as well. I picked it up at a local card store for around six dollars.
The big difference between Webkinz and Lil' Kinz is essentially their size. They are about half the size of Webkinz and their lower price tag is a reflection of that. About the Lil' Kinz Frog
The Lil' Kinz frog is a 6.5 inch plush miniature frog. I happen to think that the Lil' Kinz is way cuter than the original Frog because it doesn't have the "stringy" texture to it. Instead it is a shaggy plush in olive green with a creme colored belly and the cutest of froggy expressions. It looks just like a baby frog, so when it came to adopt it on the Webkinz World it came as no surprise that my son named his just that "babyfrog" and he made it a little girl!
When you adopt your Lil' Kinz frog your adoption gifts are the same as they would be if you adopted the full size frog. The gifts include the Frog Exclusive Lily Pad waterbed, and a serving of buggy jelly food. There is a whole slew of frog items available for purchase in the W-shop to purchase with kinzcash under their "lily pad" theme, I think we have pretty much that whole theme times three or four since we have so many frogs. Still, the fact that the Frog and Lil' kinz version of it come with a bed for the virtual pet to sleep in is definitely appreciated. For the pets that do not come with a bed, that is one of the first purchases (using kinzcash virtual currency) that you need to make and the beds don't come too cheap.
The lil' kinz frog hops around and when you put it into a pool it swims differently than the 4 footed animals do - the animation is similar to the way a real frog would move around. Fans of frogs will really enjoy this little guy (or girl) as it quickly moved to become one of my son's preferred Webkinz. He likes to bring his Webkinz frogs with him in the car and this one always travels with its matching larger version which is his absolute favorite. I still maintain though that the lil' kinz version is 10 times cuter! Given the fact that the Webkinz Frog and the Lil' Kinz Frog have the same adoption gifts, if you could add just one frog to your family then I would suggest going for the lil' kinz since it is half the price and way less wierd looking.
Note: All Webkinz and Lil' Kinz are suggested for ages 3 and up , and are surface washable. I've found this particular plush to be extremely well constructed and it has even survived a trip through the washing machine when it sorely needed cleaning.
