Pros: Actual phone usability was pretty good
Cons: Lies, lies, more lies, false statements, incompetence, poor attitude. Wrong 7 months straight
The Bottom Line: I have never been this frustrated with a company in my life. Run away from them if you can.

| bryonstuder's Full Review: General Reviews of Alltel Customer Service |
I returned from Iraq in July 2007. Upon my return we decided to add a phone to our service for me to use. We already had two lines, one for my wife and one for my daughter. During this same timeframe, Alltel bought out Midwest Wireless, a local company we used before. So we went to the new re-branded Alltel store to add a line and get a new phone for my wife. 6 hours later we walked out. It took 6 hours to activate two phones...that should have been my clue to run. The rest of July and August I fought with my voice mail...it never worked. After a couple of visits and long line waits I call the 1-800 number. They determined the store Alltel rep NEVER TURNED ON THAT FEATURE. They turned it on and never offered or allowed anything for the inconvenience. That was August 2007, late September and October we had issues again. The phones would not send the touch tones to access the voice mail accounts. The 1-800 and store customer service said I needed new phones. I said I think it was a setting issue. They shipped them to me. I went to another Alltel private store and the 19 yr old gal working there fixed our old phones by changing the settings for touch tones. I shipped the two phones back and they only say they received ONE OF THEM...and charged me $170 for the other. When I called they said that the warehouse does not open the boxes and only scans them in...they never saw the second phone. The end of November I moved to Alexandria VA. I called a week prior to the trip and had them change the account to national no roaming. I didn't double check it before we departed...I actually thought they would do their jobs...foolish of me. I received a call saying I had excess usage on my phone in December. When I called they said they told me I was roaming for the month. After I explained it was supposed to be changed...they pulled the charges. I asked at that time if there was any early cancelation charges if I dropped the service because I am Military and moved to an area they do not cover locally. They told me no...no charges. Again foolish me for believing their lies. January arrived and we changed service to Sprint (quite good service so far at a good price). I then was charged $400 in early cancelation charges! Now I am working through the process of getting that charge dropped...I faxed military orders and other documents I was not told I needed to send. All this after one representative called me a liar. I have about had it with their incompetence...is there a civil suit out there? Do not get service with this company...use tin cans and wire. Run, walk or crawl away if you can.
