I put on a set of Continental Extreme's, and had no problems with wet roads, or even light snow, since.
I have since driven a rental car (Hertz Mustang) that had the same Goodyears, and scared the hell out of me as soon as the road got wet.

My 2001 Limited Edition PT Cruiser came with the same rubber (Goodyear eagle LS in a 205/55-16 size) and mine refused to stick to ANY kind of wet surface. Do you know how embarrassing it is to slide on a quiet street that is only wet with the morning dew? I took mine off at 9500 miles to mount my winter tires and never put them back on. This is the second set of O.E.M. tires from Goodyear that have been on new car purchase of mine that was worthless in the wet. The other set was on a Ford Windstar van (Invicta ). You can bet that Goodyear will never get any tire-replacement business from me in the future.
