| Coraoccllo's Full Review: Goose Island Summer Time German-Style Kolsch Bier |
I may as well admit it right from the start: I am not a big fan of the Kolsch style. However, I was quite impressed with the Goose Island version. It has a typical fruity taste, with some bitterness. However, the flavors are not overwhelming as they are in some imported kolsches.
In fact, this beer may be too bitter for people who have Miller High Life Palate. The fruitiness includes a hint of sour which some who prefer American beers may also not relish. It isn't bad with a sprig of fresh mint added, or a single crushed blackberry or mulberry (oh, please don't think I'm a snob, my son dropped it in when I wasn't looking! But it was good).
I wouldn't drink it right after mowing the lawn; it's a little too heavy to be completely refreshing. But it's a really nice beer to serve to friends while you're waiting for the shrimp on the barbie.
