| sparklyone's Full Review: Graco Neat Seat Reclining Adjustable |
Can you find a safer, more comfortable high chair than the 2001 Graco Convertible Neat Seat? Just take a look the outstanding features:
Extra-Wide Feeding Tray
This nicely contoured tray fits snugly around your child, helping to avoid food and other unwanted tidbits from finding their way to the floor. It also gives the child a sense of feeling secure while in the seat, and prevents my usually wiggly son from even attempting to squirm out of his seat. The tray is adjustable with one hand, although this does take a bit of practice since the tray must be perfectly aligned while you are adjusting it, but it can be done and is still easier than most adjustable trays I have tested. Two built-in compartments for snacks/crayons and cup/bottle are extra bonuses that have proven worthy of my toddler’s approval.
Super-Duper Harness Straps
As close to five-point restraint as you can get in a high chair, these over the shoulder straps have an additional built-in safety feature. Each strap locks securely into place in a large, easy to use (but hard for baby to reach) crotch level clip lock. Think Britax car seat without the chest clip and you’ve got the picture.
Additional Built In T-Bar Restraint
After previously owning another high chair and seeing my son tumble out to the floor, this extra safety feature really clinched the deal for me. In addition to the extra wide tray and harness straps, I can’t think of anything more secure than this T-Bar as extra safety insurance.
Lockable Wheels
While wheels are something I never felt comfortable with on a high chair, they have come in handy and lock securely into place with a simple flip of the safety switch located on each wheel cover. Easy enough for Mom or Dad’s toes yet still firm enough that curious toddler’s can’t mess with them.
Double Padded Seat
At first glance, both my husband and I loved the adorable (and unisex) “French Bear” pattern and the thick luxury of the well-made fabric seat cushion/cover. Machine washable and actually humanly possible to remove and reassemble, this cover was made with real parents in mind. The cover wraps nicely around the entire seat back and provides soft cushioning for baby’s head no matter where she is looking. You’ll be even more pleased when you discover an additional layer of removable, easy-to-wipe-clean vinyl padding under the fabric cover. This is the first high chair that my son (whose first word was “done” – so he could escape his high chair) has actually enjoyed sitting in. The difference in meal times is amazing now that he is comfortable, and often he will even be happy to sit and color or read in his chair while the rest of the family finishes eating.
Overall design and use: A+
This chair has a high seat back with padding to go with it, providing your child with a cozy and secure eating area. The well-made design features a food catchall behind your child’s legs to will catch any tossed morsels before they make it to the floor or legs of the chair. Large, broad surfaces make this chair the easiest ever to clean. The wide tray has 5 variable positions, and the seat reclines at 3 different levels. Chair height is also adjustable at 6 alternate levels, and works great for use right at the table (without the tray), especially with the added safety of the T-bar. This is one seat that truly will grow with your family!
