Brettkatt's Full Review: Sam McBratney and East Word - Guess How Much I Lov...
My little girl love to be read too. She has many books and insists that her mother, Nana, or I read to her. One of her favorite books is Guess How Much I Love You by Sam McBartney and illustrated by Anita Jeram.
The story takes place in the woods, where rabbits live. The main characters are Little Nutbrown Hare and Big Nutbrown Hair (who I assume is Little Nutbrown Hares father). Well, in the story it is time for bed. Little Nutbrown hare wants to tell his father how much he loves him. Proclaiming his love, he states This much while stretching his little tiny rabbit arms as wide as they can go. His father responds But I love you this much. Of course Big Nutbrown Hares arms are stretched further than his sons can.
This game of one upping the other continues until right after Little Nutbrown Hare falls a sleep. The last reference of love the little guy had was to the moon. As the little guy fell asleep, Dad got the last word by whispering I love you right to the moon- and back.
In all seriousness, this is a very cute story with very good illustrations. Anita Jeram does a great job at bringing to life Little Nutbrown Hairs excitement as he tells his father how much he loves him. Little Nutbrown Hairs frustrations are well illustrated as well.
This nineteen-page story is well written and is a very easy read (It is a childrens book, I hope that it would be easy for them to read). The story flows nicely and can be finished in a matter of minutes. However, if you are reading to my daughter, she will ask for it to be read a couple hundred times (in a row). She is only 19 months old, so she is not able to really read yet. I am sure when she can, She will wear by pages out by reading it herself.
In conclusion, Guess How Much I Love You is a delightful story t share with your children. It is a good story with great illustrations. I would recommend it for your childs library.
Moral of the story: You can try to show another how much you love them with visual aids but in the end, true love cant be measured.
