I didn't think I would be the only one that this happened to! We also have pressure mounted gates that we climb over, and I hate it too. I cannot wait until my kids are old enough to remove all the gates, even the ones near the stairs. I have at least a year or two to go before that happens, though.

My youngest started walking right after she turned 9 months old. By 10 months, she had figured out that if she jumped on the foot pedal, the gate would open.
So, we now have pressure mounted gates that the adults climb over and the children are lifted over. This is a complete pain in the back, neck and everywhere else with my 54 pound 6 1/2 year old. I cannot wait to get the gates down and give the older one back her freedom - the gates had been down for her for years.
