| LauroA's Full Review: Hard Core Black Cider |
Hard Core Black Cider is, according to their own description, “America’s first true black hard cider.” To make it a black cider, caramelized apple juice concentrate is added. It is oak aged and natural flavors and carbonization added.
Hard Core’s black cider is noticeably different from their regular cider. It has a deeper flavor, more like a dark beer. It is also less sweet than their regular hard cider. I like both of them. If one is not available at the store, I’ll settle for the other one. There’s just enough fizz when first poured and it goes well with a few ice cubes in it.
Personally, I prefer the regular cider because it is milder, the apple flavor is more noticeable. The cider “beers” go especially well with sandwiches and raw vegetables. They’re low in alcoholic content, 5%, and are a good fill in between lunch and dinner as well as to have on hand to offer guests as an alternative to wine or beer.
A few years back there was a medical study which found that drinking one to two beers a day reduced the likelihood of heart attacks in men because of the relaxing effect. I think this is a good way to enjoy life and be healthy too. Drink more, eat less, live longer.
