I will be reviewing EZ start packaging tape in CLEAR. Not to be confused with duct tape or any other brand of packaging tape. I will be discussing the smaller 5 yard version.
Why I require packaging tape in my home... For me personally I use packaging tape on a daily basis. I run a small ebay business and packing and shipping is a daily morning routine for me. When I first began my shipping and packaging needs I would submit my packages to the Post office and they would pretty much do everything for me right down to the packaging. As the year went on, I began to learn more cost efficient methods to my shipping needs. I used to use whatever packing tape was on sale, didn't matter if it was brown or clear, had a dispenser or was a refill pack. I began getting to sooo frustrated with countless wasted scraps of tape. Some dispensers got jammed up, the tape will fold over it was just A MESS. It tried pretty much every tape out there. I finally spent the few extra cents on the DUCK brand of packaging tape in clear. At the time I hadn't even paid attention to the advertisements on the product. Within the first use I was hooked and I never went back....

The Duck brand EZ start packaging tape, has a few very clear claims: -No splitting or tearing -Never lose the tape end -Always unrolls "Smooth & Easy"
It doesn't getting any better than that! And the best part is that these claims are NOT too good to be true. I can honestly say that each of those statements are true in my experience while using this product. Oh yes, did I also mention they state "Frustration Free!" I absolutely agree. The very first time I used this product I learned of a whole new world in problem free packing! The start of the tape has a zipper edged cut with a reinforced thick strip. You easily grab this piece and start your roll . Tear off the beginning and go! You will notice how this tape just glides right through. The actual cut-off of the tape is so very easy. There is no loud screeching noises that come from this product. There is no fight to actually cut the tape. The texture of this tape is much more heavier. It is not thin, but the glue is also not super sticky. However sometimes it is easily re-apply-able to your surface. I primarily use cardboard shipping boxes. I have also used this tape for a quick laminate on my favorite business and other paper discount cards in my wallet.
Re-Use
In my opinion the Duck brand of packaging tapes are significantly priced higher than it store brand and other major competitors. However if you purchase one guide w/ tape, and then purchase refills after you will save more. So don't toss the guides. The guides are a bit flimsy when un-filled, so be careful with them until it's time to refill.
Size Matters
I have purchased both the 5 yard and the 30 yard EZ starts. The product I am reviewing today is wonderful for your smaller projects, it is the least expensive offered and is easily stored because of it's size. The 30 yard dispenser is the most expensive and in my opinion would be a better choice for any packing needs related to (moving) or storage, however I would like to include my one and only con to this product: Typically a permanent marker easily can write on any packaging tape. I have found that permanent markers do not show up on this tape well, it gets that beaded look and easily rubs off even after a short period of dry time. So my advice for anyone interested in this product for (moving) and (storage) needs where they want to write on this tape is to not get your hopes up, as you may be disappointed, and are better off writing on a label or something. Ink pen does work but it is not as bold of course ;)
