cmaw63's Full Review: Hewlett Packard Photosmart 335 InkJet Printer
I love my HP PhotoSmart 335 printer, it's a well constructed, lightweight printer. It's approx. 3 lbs. and easy to take along with you anywhere and print out photos that are just as good as getting them developed.
My favorite use for it is to take it to family gatherings and print out the pictures I take and everyone who wants one can get theirs then, too.
I've, accidentally, banged mine around more than once and it still works perfectly. It is limited to 4X6 prints, but since I use mine to add photos to my album...that works for me. It prints normal photo's at approximately 60 seconds each, enhanced photos take a bit longer. (approx. 90 sec.)
The fact that it allows you to print from your camera's memory card (it takes CompactFlash Type I and II, SmartMedia, Secure Digital/MultiMedia Card, Memory Stick, and xD memory cards) makes it convenient for when your not near a computer. It, also, allows you to print from your computer, if you want to do some post processing to your pics.
The, 1.5 inch, display on top is small, but handy in picking out the exact pictures you want to print.
What really made the deal for me is the after buy money that was going to need to be spent. i.e: paper & ink cartridges. I was able to buy a combo pack of 100 4X6 photo sheets and the color cartridge (HP 95 tricolor) for under $30 at Wal-mart. What a deal! The one thing I would caution against is handling the photo's before the ink is entirely dry.
This my first printer of this type and have found it easy to navigate the menu, which is viewed thru the display window, and operate the printer. I recommend it for even those who have no previous knowledge of photo printers.
What you get: HP 335 printer, power cable, HP 95 tricolor ink cartridge, setup poster, user's guide, CD-ROM, warranty and registration card. Mine came with a USB cable, but MOST do not. Make sure you check the one your looking at to see if it includes the usb cable or not.
You can print borderless or bordered photos with the easy to navigate onscreen menu. The menu will let you turn your photo to black & white, sepia and other color options. You can, also, do minor photo editing, such as, red eye reduction, brightening and contrast and has an auto enhance.
Compatibility: This printer will work with the following operating systems: Windows 98, 2000 Professional, Me, XP Professional, XP Home and Macintosh OS X v 10.2 through 10.3 and needs Internet Explorer 5.5 or more current. Software and driver downloads, if needed, are availabe at the HP website.
