| jjmb's Full Review: Hill's Science Diet Prescription Diet Feline c/d D... |
We have more stray cats than I care to number. With our first urinary blockage case, after surgery, the poor cat blocked a second and third time. By that time his liver and kidneys were shot and he couldn't be saved. Had he been on a strict diet of C/D, I don't believe this would have happened.
We have had two others block (but they were snacking on other cat's food as well). Surgery and a strict diet of only C/D has kept them healthy and blockage free.
We go through two 20 lb. bags a month, but the cost is nothing compared to the bill for surgery.
We also have a hyperthyroid cat with thyroid tumour. While getting her med dosage adjusted she lost too much weight. We put her on C/D as well (she liked it better than anything else) and he weight came back up to a more normal level.
With the number of strays we acquire, there are numerous health problems. Many involve the cat becoming dehydrated at some point. Dry C/D can be soaked in warm water in a relatively short period of time. It expands to almost twice the size when soaked and the cats don't seem to mind eating it. They are still getting nutrition and the extra fluids that they need.
