Cahill's Full Review: Hol Ee Roller JW Holee Roller XL
Labs are notoriously hard on toys. My chocolate lab, Max, takes one look at a plush toy and it is toast. He loves to play tug- with EVERYTHING- ropes, squeeky plush toys, his soccer ball. But the best tug toy in the box is his Holee Roller.
What it a Holee Roller?
A Holee Roller is a ball made of a tough and durable rubbery material full of hexagonal holes. It comes in many bright colors including but not limited to green, red, and blue, and comes in sizes appropriate for any size or breed of dog. The Holee Roller is easy to grip by both dog and owner alike and is great for tug and fetch games.
Durability
Max will be turning 6 this summer and in that time has had two Holee Rollers. The only reason for there to be two is that we had to get a bigger one as he was growing out of the smaller size we got for him as a small pup. Max is a small lab by most standards- topping out at 60 lbs or so, but while playing tug with the Holee Roller we can lift Max off all four feet and into the air with no apparent strain on the ball. The only thing I can see tearing this thing apart would be two large dogs playing a wild game of tug together, and even then they would have to be playing really hard.
Clean up
No washing machine required. Cleaning this toy is a snap. A little warm soapy water and it is as good as new.
Cost and availability
The cost of the Holee Roller varies based on the size of the ball. Anywhere up to $20 depending on size. Ive seen these at the big name pet stores such as PetCo and PetSmart and also at smaller chains and suppliers such as PetEdge.
The Bottom Line
If you have a dog that destroys toys and loves to tug this is definatly a worthwhile investment.
