Pros: Tastes good, I felt fine, had enough energy
Cons: Just 400 calories a day, no social meal times
The Bottom Line: I'd do this diet again, but I'll buy two bottles and drink all I want, or add other juice and water if I get hungry.

| MsHooterville's Full Review: Hollywood 48 Hour Miracle Diet |
First, let me explain that I'm using a different approach to write this review of the "Hollywood Miracle Diet". I'm going to update this page more or less "live" so you can see a little diary of how I feel.
I won't repeat nutritional information and instructions, because I culookin', whose review prompted me to try this, and KristenNC have done a thorough job in these areas already. If you decide to order this product, I recommend reading all reviews on this first!
You also should know that I've happily and successfully been on the Dr. Atkins plan since late May, and I've dropped 10 lbs. since then. I plan to return to Dr. Atkins on Friday when my 48-hours are up.
Do I really believe I can lose 10 lbs. in two days? Maybe, but I know it will all be water weight. Chances are excellent that most of it will return, but that's okay, too. I don't need to lose much, and I have learned that occasional short breaks from Dr. Atkins can recharge your system.
If this miracle juice cleans out my pipes for me, that's a good enough extra benefit to make this little experiment worthwhile.
This is ALL I get for TWO Days?
My package with this miracle juice arrived Monday, and the small box size alarmed me immediately. What could be in a box this size that could sustain me for 48 hours besides chocolate truffles?
Inside, I found a 32 oz. bottle of the juice concentrate. It's the size and shape of a Gatorade bottle. Mixed with equal parts of water, you get 8 servings of 8 oz. each, and you need to drink at least 8 glasses of water per day.
So I considered some strategies for getting through this diet. Earlier in the week, I saw a program about survival training in the Australian Outback. The foolhardy adventurers who try to see how long they can survive are sent off with a box of "tools" no larger than a Walkman, including plastic bags for water, and a topographical map for finding it.
Well, if they can do it, I can do it. I can do anything for 48 hours, hell, I was in labor for 22 hours. It won't be that bad -- will it?
Right Now, It's Hour 2. So Far, So Good
I tried to give myself an edge today by sleeping later than usual, but I was hungry at 6 a.m., and I had to go to the bathroom. And once I'm up, I'm up.
I mixed four servings last night so I wouldn't have to do it this morning, putting them in two 16 oz. plastic bottles. I Cu said to drink your 8 oz. slowly over a period of 4 hours, sipping water in between, as in the directions.
But I decided to drink the full 8 oz. at once, because I was hungry. With Dr. Atkins, I'm used to eating when I'm hungry. I can have more at 10 a.m., which will have to carry me to 2 p.m. unless I can enjoy it slowly.
I'm hungry now. I think I'll get some more water. And I think I will have to use the bathroom lots today.
Stay tuned for updates at this same location! Any information you see at the bottom of this page about Pros, Cons, and success will be ARBITRARY at this point in time and finalized on Friday morning.
It's Noon, Hour 6 -- What Should I Be Doing Now?
Ah, yes! Eating lunch! My stomach doesn't know I'm doing this juice thing yet, and it's expecting some kind of meat and green salad with real fat dressing like it gets on Dr. Atkins diet.
Looks like hunger comes and goes here. As starved as I was in Hour 2, I made it to 10:30 without my second 8 oz. juice binge. I figure if I can stretch it out -- when I CAN -- it might give me an edge tonight when I expect to need it most.
I will try to postpone my third juice meal of the day until a little after 2 p.m., because I can't see being through with the whole day at 6 p.m., unless someone puts me in a 12-hour coma.
It's 3 p.m., Hour 9 - Still Don't Want to Eat a Rat
Y'know, pretending that I'm on the show Survivor is a pretty good strategy when you're restricted to all the liquid you can fit into a Gatorade bottle for 48 hours.
I just finished my third juice for the day, and I have just one left. And I'm just happy I was able to postpone drinking it, giving me an extra hour before I have to quit for the day.
I've had more than 8 glasses of water, going to my little office fridge three times for two 16-oz. bottles of purified water from my Brita unit and saved in plastic pop containers (recycling is good). The water really does help delay hunger.
There may be a slight appetite-suppressing property in this juice mixture. You get 75 percent of 12 essential vitamins and nutrients in each serving, perhaps that helps.
When things get rockier later today, I will think of all the starving people in the world, especially children, who may not get this much nutrition in a week or more. I will scold myself if I start to feel sorry for myself.
It's just 48 hours. That's all. Now I just have one thought: What if I step out into the street, get hit by a car and become a traffic fatality, and THIS was my last meal?
"Oh, shaddup!" I say to myself.
It's Almost Hour 14 -- Night Falls on the First Day
Here it is, nearly 8 p.m., and I've managed to save my last juice "feast" so far. My goal was to drink it was close to bedtime as possible so I'll be able to sleep without a growling tummy -- but it may not work.
I haven't felt listless or painfully hungry, so there must be enough energy in this drink. It might be because it's still far more carbohydrates than I get on the Atkins diet, so my body may think it's getting some new "fuel".
But my daughter just brought in some French Vanilla Popcorn from Cracker Barrel. Looks pretty darned good.
I'm planning to take a long bath, do my nails and watch the GOP convention, even though some speaker is very likely to cause me stress with all the phony symbolism I've seen the past couple of days. Forgive me, that's another editorial!
So I'll try to get to bed early, then when I wake up, it will be Hour 24 or 25! Tomorrow is another day!
DAY 2, Hour 26! Already Planning 1st Thing I'll Eat Tomorrow
Last night, it was kind of hard to fall asleep, even though I didn't drink my last juice until 9 p.m. But I did sleep until a little past 7, which gives me an edge on the day.
I had a bit of a headache, but felt better after my juice. Had to turn down lunch with a client who invited me to go with him after a meeting. He would think I was nuts if I told him what I'm doing.
Weighed in, and I've lost three pounds. I don't see myself losing another 7 by morning! It just doesn't add up. Well, this is good for me for two days -- I think!
Lunch Time, Hour 31 and Counting
I just finished my meeting with my client, which kept my mind off food and energized me, he gave me some very interesting assignments. Then we talked about dieting -- hahaha!
He didn't think I was nuts, even though he doesn't think I need to lose weight, he said he and his wife are both losing and regaining the same 10 pounds (and I don't think either of them needs to lose weight), and that they both overindulged while vacationing with their kids in Scotland.
So I suppose we both wound up spending the time we would have used to eat lunch at the nice restaurant in my office building just yakking -- that's fine with me!
I just diluted my lunch juice to stretch it a little, and it still tastes good.
My daughter will want us to get right in the pool when I get home. I usually do water exercises, but I think I'll just float today. Why work up my hunger? Swimming usually makes me ravenous!
But overall, I feel fine and fairly energetic. This hasn't been too bad. I'm still thinking about what I'll eat first tomorrow.
My vacation starts Saturday, and I know it will be harder to stay on Dr. Atkins 100 percent while traveling. Whatever I lose on this juice thing will reappear by the time I get back next week, unless my husband runs me ragged -- which he usually does.
Day 2, Hour 39, This Experiment Concludes
It's 9 p.m. and 39 hours into this weight loss experiment, and I have lost 3 to 4 pounds. Although I could make it to 6 a.m., I know I am not going to lose another 6 to 7 lbs. in 9 hours, so I ate a low-carb protein bar.
I want to sleep well tonight, without hunger, so I chose to eat a small amount to tide me over until breakfast. I'm happy enough losing this much in 39 hours -- it's the best I've ever done without being deathly ill and clinging to a porcelain bowl.
Would I do this diet again? Yes, like KristenNC said, I would do a juice fast, but not with this product. I would use the same ingredients, supplements, and drink more calories than the 400 per day allowed on this plan.
Overall, I felt pretty good, had adequate energy, and I hope that my short break from the Dr. Atkins plan that I find so satisfactory helps make that menu even more effective for me in the next few days.
I don't have much weight to lose, which may be one of the reasons I didn't drop 10, but I suspect that no one who has reviewed this product so far has a lot to lose, either.
This is a good choice if you have a special event coming up and want to fit into a great outfit -- but be content with that. Maybe since I just lost 3-4 lbs., it won't come roaring back as quickly and will be slightly easier to maintain.
