Pros: It's is quiet, clean, spacious, and convenient to Midtown.
Cons: If you're used to modern, boutique-like hotels, I'd look elsewhere.
The Bottom Line: Great for a business trip because it is comfortable, clean, and quiet; however, it seems marketed toward an older set than those in their mid-twenties or younger.

| inikib's Full Review: Sofitel New York |
The Sofitel New York hotel wouldn't be a place that I would have chosen to stay in, but my fiance's company's off-site meeting was held here, and I tagged along.
The lobby was spacious with a lot of seating for guests to wait, but the decor was quite traditional. It was not offensive by being overdone, but it didn't conform to the simple, modern aesthetics that I look for in hotels. Perhaps it's all the marble, which is the "French flare" of their theme?
The room's decor echoed the lobby's. The photos on the website of the room represented itself true to life. The room was clean and well-made as well as spacious and quiet. The bed was comfortable, but firm, and the pillows were good if you like fairly filled pillows. The view was towards the back of the building, which showed the street between two other buildings.
The bathroom (with a tub and shower--see the hotel's photos) was larger than any bathroom I've ever used. The tiles, as nice as they were, were freezing because they are made of marble. The scents of the toiletries were tasteful and not overwhelming. The flower on the sink was a nice touch.
Room service came promptly and was pretty good. I believe we ordered grilled cheese and tomato soup, which came with a drink and dessert (which was something chocolate). That they had American comfort food on their menu was a bonus since we had just flown in from Japan after being there for a couple of weeks.
Overall the stay was nice, but not what I'd choose myself. The TV was very easy to use to check out.
