| nicknack's Full Review: Kay Arthur - How to Study Your Bible |
I had the privilege of attending a women's conference a few weeks ago, at which Kay Arthur was the speaker. To be honest, I had never even heard of her before the conference. I'd love to describe her as a person, as a speaker and as an author, but that's not what my review is about.
At the conference, I picked up a couple of books from the book table. I went with limited funds, so I searched until I found something that looked worthy of my few dollars. (All of it looked worthy, but again, my funds were limited). I found a small assortment that had 2 books and a pen. One of the books was "How To Study Your Bible". Wow, if there was anything I needed, it was this. But I had reservations about whether this book would leave me confused and bewildered like so many of the other "study" guides I've purchased or borrowed.
And now, 3 weeks later, I am very glad I purchased the book. Kay takes the time to walk you through simple steps and easy to apply techniques to make your bible study effective. She teaches how to notice things you might not have noticed before. She teaches how to mark your bible and when to mark your bible.
It's easy to read and easy to apply. I didn't feel like an idiot each time she pointed something out, that should have been obvious to me in the past. And the technique is not overly complicated or time consuming.
The book is a little over 175 pages long, which although it does take time to read through, it is very thorough in what it teaches and well worth the time. It is not a book that you will read all at once, because you can't apply it that quickly. You take it one step at a time.
Because of what I have learned from Kay's book, I have organized a bible study on what else, but "how to study your bible". It's got to be good if it can bring me to the point that I am willing to teach on it.
If you are seeking for some instruction in how to study your bible, you will NOT be disappointed in this book.
