dc4bs's Full Review: Infinity BassLink Car Subwoofer
I bought a new 2005 Blazer and within a few weeks replaced the double-din head unit with a Kenwood ddx8017, "Music Keg" and GPS system.
All was well and good with the world but I noticed that the low end just wasn't getting there no matter how I set the head units equalizer and other settings.
After my 2nd trip from NYC to Detroit and back, I decided to do something about it... With no real base, listening to music can get annoying after 11 hours in the car. Cranking it louder doesn't help. It just makes it louder, not fuller.
I spent some time researching subwoofer systems and decided to go with the Basslink.
Purchased and installed at Circuit City. $299 for the unit, $65 for install and $39 for the amp wiring kit. I installed the Kenwood units myself but I wanted "professionals" to wire the power for the amp.
All I can say is WOW! It fits very nicely in the rear passenger side corner behind the wheel well (unused space in most Blazers).
After a few days fiddling with the head unit controls and getting the crossover and equalizer settings dialed in, it sounds amazing.
I had no desire to "shake up the neighborhood", just fill in the missing low notes for a variety of music. I listen to most music types with the exception of country and hard rap/metal. Everything from folk to rock to "light" rap (not sure how else to describe it ;) ) to classical. 70s through current hits. So far I havent listened to anything that this unit did not make sound great at any volume.
I've had friends comment on how amazing my car sounds and they were shocked that I had a subwoofer in there. They didn't believe I had it turned on till I turned it off. The sound difference is VERY noticeable.
